The Story Behind Bark & Bumble.

Simply put, I am a mother who wants to spend as much time as possible with her child.

After the birth of my Daughter, Ada, I realized that my life needed to undergo a significant transformation. The demands of my full-time career as a busy showroom manager and kitchen designer conflicted with my desire to be fully present for every milestone in Ada’s life.

I aspired to find a harmonious balance between work and personal life, allowing me to work at my own pace around the wholesome family life that I have built with my partner, and our beloved daughter and dog.

This aspiration led to the creation of Bark & Bumble…

While the term ‘bark’ traditionally evokes the rugged exterior of a tree, for me, it symbolizes my loyal canine companion, Jimmy. As for ‘bumble,’ this holds a special meaning as the endearing nickname lovingly given to my daughter by her Nanny, ‘Ada Bumblebee.’

My intention was to create a unique brand identity that marries elements of the natural world with cherished personal connections.

From a young age I have always been passionate about sustainability and have consistently adopted a natural, holistic approach in everything I do. I made the decision that the choices I make throughout starting my own business have to be made ethically, with sustainability always in mind.

My goal is to ensure that my business does not contribute to the environmental issues we face today. I want my daughter to grow up appreciating all the beauty this world has to offer, and it is important to me to set an example that profits do not take priority over caring for our planet and its people.

That’s why all our products are made from the finest quality natural resources and are crafted using handmade techniques by myself, as well as other local, independent suppliers.
